In cooperation with AUDI, Volkswagen has tested the newly developed MEC600 edge-milling machine in its Test Center for applicability in the current body repair processes in the VW workshops. After the intensive test phase, the edge trimmer (VAS 882 005) was approved for practical use in VW workshops worldwide.
This ALL-IN-ONE tool is used for the secure cutting of the car body outer skin. This product is outstanding when used on doors, boot edges, mudguards and roof edges.
The MEC600 pneumatic milling cutter tool has been designed to open welding seams for the easy removal of outer panels. The adjustable guide of the cutter allows the MEC600 to be easily adjusted to different angular positions of the metal sheets, thus preventing the cutter from slipping off the edge, resulting in no damages.
The MEC600 also won the Federal Prize 2019 for outstanding innovative achievements for craft trades, which was presented to Dr. Norbert Lay and Ivica Sablic at a ceremony by Parliamentary State Secretary Christian Hirte (Economy & Energy).
The Federal Award for Outstanding Innovative Achievements in Crafts has been presented by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy since 1989.
